Marc Sorrel, one of the best winemakers in Hermitage.
Marc Sorrel is a discreet winemaker who produces sumptuous Hermitage. You know, these wines that are so smooth and fine in their youth and yet have an impressive potential for ageing. Marc Sorrel owns 4 hectares on the famous hill, extremely well oriented and particularly renowned plots. He vinifies with immense know-how and experience. As a result, he produces very high quality wines, overpriced ... but which are worth it.
The production of the estate is very simple: one "normal" wine and one "fine wine" for each color. The production is are extremely low: about 1500 bottles for each white wine, and 3000 to 4000 bottles for the two red wines.
The beautiful signle vineyard named "Rocoules" makes the great white of the same name. And the great red comes from an blend of the two best single vineyards of the estate: Les Greffieux and Le Méal (hence the name of the cuvee: "Le Greal").
Whether red or white, the winemaker recommends to wait 3-4 years before drinking, specifying that they are really well after a dozen years, and remain like that about 10 more years.
