Vincent Pinard, one of the best vineyards of Sancerre
Domaine Pinard, owned by the same family for centuries, is located in Bue. The Sancerre Pinard are Loire wines of the highest level. The philosophy remains the same for each new generation: respect for tradition, terroirs and the environment. Florent and Clément (the sons of Vincent and Cosette Pinard), the younger generation currently in control, deepens the traditionally organic approach: no use of weed killer, insecticide, or anti-rot on the estate. The soil of the hills of Bue is limestone and clay-limestone. Most of the work at the vineyard is done by hand, especially the harvest, of course, supplemented by a sorting table where the selection is severe! With quality for the main objective, small yields are required to obtain concentrated Sauvignon or Pinot Noir, obtained at the price of hard work in the vine: short size, disbudding and grape harvest in green. According to the different vintages , the farms are made either in vats (some of which are oak and not stainless), or in barrels and half-muids.
The Pinard family speaks with one voice: "We are not very interventionist. Everything lies in the choice of the grapes. The fruits are healthy, it is not necessary to use artifices for wine making".
The vintages of the Pinard Sancerre estate:
SANCERRE Vincent Pinard RED: the wine of Sancerre Pinard red is made with the Pinot Noir grape. It is located on clay-limestone soils (limestone subsoil). These terroirs bring to the red wines a lot of depth and complexity. The vines are grassed, faithfully following the family principles of respect for nature and less interventionism. Average yields are 32hl / ha. The vines are very old, almost 40 years. The reds are powerful but with a fine texture, with lots of fruit and freshness. The "Charlouise" or "Vendanges Entières" vintage plots are perhaps the most successfully made Sancerre reds, which must be waited before they are tasted and whose old vintages have become rare wines.
SANCERRE Vincent Pinard WHITE: Sancerre Pinard dry white is made with the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. It is planted on the limestone soil and basement of the village of Bué. Called "Caillottes", this terroir gives a lot of finesse, purity and precision to the wine. The soils are worked. The vines are about half a century old, which naturally limits the yields and optimizes the quality: magnificent persistence and great minerality perfectly define the white wines of the estate.
