JP et JF Quenard, the revival of Savoy wines
In the Savoyard vineyard, Quenard families are numerous: this is why first names are so important.
Jean-Pierre and Jean-Francois Quenard estate is a family vineyard, passed down from father to son since 1644. It is located at the foot of the famous Chignin Towers, and now extends over 18 hectares. Quenard estate produces contemporary Savoy wines based on local grape varieties such as Mondeuse, Persian or Altesse!
In 1987, Jean-Francois resumed farming with his father. His oenologist degree and various internships (notably in Bordeaux and California) allowed him to be quickly operational.
The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils and cultivated in sustainable agriculture. The respect of the soil is very important. The vinification is precise, winemaking mastered and every detail is neat, which allows to produce pure and elegant wines.
The guides are not mistaken: every year Quenard wines are mentionned and rewarded with many medals. The Savoy vineyard is in full renewal, and Jean-Francois Quenard is leading the way.
