Chateau de Villeneuve, a reference in Saumur

Jean Pierre Chevalier produces fine Loire wines at the Chateau de Villeneuve in Saumur and Saumur Champigny appellations. Located in Souzay, the estate covers 25 hectares: 5 hectares are planted with Chenin Blanc and 20 hectares with Cabernet Franc.

Chevalier family has been living in Chateau de Villeneuve for 40 years. In 1969, they became owners of this prestigious 18th century residence, made from tuffeau stone. Jean Pierre Chevalier, a graduate of the Bordeaux oenology institute is today at the head of the domain. In 2016, he created a brand new winery. The estate is managed according to the principles of organic farming: no weedkiller is used, no pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Limited yields and manual harvest. Aging takes place in 400 to 500 liter barrels. At the tasting, the wines are fine, elegant and of great personality.chateau-de-villeneuve-loire-saumur
