Les Poëte, a key estate in Reuilly and Quincy.
Guillaume Sorbe makes at Les Poëte (the maiden name of his great-grandmother) great wines from the Loire valley in Reuilly, Quincy and Touraine appellation. Three main grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris. In the top 10 producers of the year 2019 of Bettane and Desseauve guide.
Guillaume Sorbe began his career in cooking, then in the sommellerie, before becoming a winemaker. After a BTS Viticulture - Oenology in Beaune and several internships (in Pommard in particular), this son of winemaker creates his own estate in 2006 with the vines of the family.
He highlights the best terroirs of Reuilly and Quincy, with wines of very high level, which easily compete with the names of neighboring renowned as Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé. This confidential estate covers 6 hectares in Quincy and Reuilly appellation and 1.5 hectares in Touraine.
His approach is "eco-logical" (these are his words). The estate is conducted in organic and follows the specifications Demeter. However Les Poëte is not eligible for certification, because its hives (there are also sheep, horses, hens, woods) contain frames of wax that bees have not built! Regardless, the winemaker has become a local and now national figure and no one disputes his immense respect for nature and the environment, biodiversity (only 7 hectares of vines are planted on the 17 of the farm!) .
In the cellar, the winemaking is managed with particular attention: in very small vats, since each of the 28 plots is vinified and raised separately: a titanic work that allows Guillaume Sorbe to know his terroirs well and to adapt the vinifications and blends. There is very little intervention in winemaking for whites as well as for reds.
