Domaine des Coeuriots - Marie Giraud and Yoann Defert - Vézelay
The Domaine des Coeuriots is a family-owned estate covering less than 10 hectares at the foot of the hill of Vézelay, not far from Chablis in Burgundy.
The vines were planted in 1990 by Claudette and Joël Defert, who used to deliver their grapes to the cooperative. Since 2012, their son Yoann has taken over the family farm and initiated the creation of the estate to vinify his own wines.
In 2022, the estate was taken over by Marie Giraud, with Yoann Defert continuing to oversee the winemaking process.
The name "Les Coeuriots" pays homage to the terroir, recalling the heart-shaped fossils found in the estate’s clay-limestone soils.
Respect for the terroir and the environment is essential to both winemakers. The estate is managed using organic farming practices and obtained organic certification in 2021.
The white wines have benefited from the "Bourgogne Vézelay" AOC designation since 1997, with official recognition of the true AOP Vézelay designation in 2017 (France) and 2022 (Europe). The vineyard consists of two grape varieties: 8 hectares of Chardonnay and 2 hectares of Pinot Noir.
Our selection of wines from the estate:
- Vézelay dry white (Chardonnay)
- Vézelay "Le Clos" dry white (Chardonnay)
- Bourgogne red (Pinot Noir)
