Pierre Vincent Girardin, very promising young winemaker in Meursault
Pierre-Vincent Girardin produces high end Burgundy wines from prestigious appellations such as Beaune, Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Batard Montrachet. The white wines, made from the Chardonnay grape represent 40% of the production, and the reds made from the Pinot Noir, 60%.
Pierre-Vincent Girardin created his own estate in Meursault in 2016. Son of winemakers, he was immersed in the world of wine from his birth and began his empirical apprenticeship in the vineyard and in the cellar at the age of 15. His parents also make it a point of honor to provide him with an exceptional tasting experience: Rayas, Clos Rougeard ... and many other legendary wines from all over the world. They serve as an example today to achieve the greatest with his Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.
Our young winegrower has tasted a lot, but also traveled, which allowed him to discover the culture of wine in different countries and to find his own style. From there he knew he wanted to live in Burgundy and make his own wines. His first vintage will be vinified alongside his father, at only 19 years old. Very humble, he seeks to best enhance the climates of Burgundy, of which he is fortunate to own a few hectares. The choice of barrels (of different species and sizes) is also particularly meticulous ... as is the toasting ... made to measure. Pierre-Vincent's godfather is director of one of the largest coopers in the region, that helps :-)
The estate now covers 4.5 hectares, and Pierre-Vincent wants to expand it to 10 hectares within 2 years.
He had an authentic but ultra-modern vat room built near the Chateau de Meursault, in order to master all the details of the winemaking as well as possible. Bottling is done on site according to the lunar calendar. Concerned about the environment, he plans to go organic within 5 years.
Passionate about the nuances of the terroir, he wants to bring out this in his cuvees: precise and balanced white wines, which express the minerality of the terroir. Fruity red wines, fresh and sapid, with supple tannins and little marked by wood.
A young, talented winegrower, a real rising star of the Cote de Beaune.
